The country surrounding the Lake is true Alaskan wilderness, accessible only by bush aircraft. The hills and valleys around the Lodge provide hikes for all age and ability levels. The scenery is stunning and if you're there at the right time of year you may find yourself sitting in the middle of a patch of ripe wild blueberries.

Treks are usually from three to ten days and you'll be accompanied by an experienced guide the entire trip.

All hiking trips begin with a floatplane trip into the remote Talkeetna Mountains. Guests overnight at the lodge and are briefed on their hiking route and safety measures by their personal guide.

We offer air support for food trips (imagine a fresh salad and bottle of wine in the wilderness). Aircraft are also used to transport hikers, allowing maximum flexibility in route planning.

Outlying cabins are withing a day's hike of each other and provide warm, dry and comfortable shelter. Lake side cabins are equipped with canoes or rowboats.

In July, canoe across the lake from one of our cabins and hike to the bear watch. Here you can watch the grizzly bears fishing for king salmon in the stream below. Photograph the moose, caribou, bears, fox and eagles in their natural settings.
